Meet Dr. Michèle Mantha, C. Psych.

Clinical & School Psychologist

Dr. Michèle is a bilingual clinical and school psychologist, who works with children, adolescents, as well as adults who are young at heart. 

She offers individual therapy services for a variety of mental health challenges including depression, anxiety, emotional regulation, behavioural issues, self-esteem, and social skills. Her interventions are both evidenced-based and creative to meet the individual needs of each of her clients. A mother of two school-aged boys herself, Dr. Michèle is familiar with the everyday challenges of childhood as well as parenting. She combines her personal experiences with professional knowledge to find unique solutions to support her clients. Sessions are both strategy rich and fun!

Psychotherapy

Psychotherapy is a process in which your family and your psychologist will work together in a warm and supportive environment to identify therapy goals for your child or adolescent, develop a treatment plan tailored to their individual needs, & work toward attaining the goals using evidenced-based strategies.

Assessments

Heart in Mind offers a variety of assessments tailored to different needs (for school-aged children and youth aged 6-16). We specialize in psychoeducational assessments as well as assessments for Attention-Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD) & Autism spectrum disorder (ASD), and giftedness.

Clinical Supervision

Heart in Mind Psychological Services welcomes individuals who are in the process of registering with the College of Psychologists of Ontario, and who are seeking private practice opportunities along with a clinical supervisor for their year of supervised practice.

Consultation & Mentorship

What You Need To Know

A psychologist is a professional with expertise in how people think, feel, and behave from a scientific viewpoint. Their profound knowledge and unique training allow them to assess and diagnose mental disorders as well as treat a variety of mental health issues.  Psychologists primarily use psychotherapy to help people understand and change their thoughts, feelings, and behaviours to improve their overall well-being. 

Psychiatrists are medical doctors with a speciality in mental health and mental disorders. As medical doctors, they are allowed to prescribe medication. Medication is often their preferred method of treatment, but some psychiatrists also provide psychotherapy. 

A psychometrist is a professional who administers and scores psychological tests as part of an assessment. They may also assist in analyzing data, interpreting results, and writing reports. They work under the supervision of a registered psychologist. The psychologist is ultimately responsible for the outcomes of the assessment (i.e., conclusions, recommendations), and for communicating diagnoses, if relevant. 

No, a referral is not generally required to receive psychological services. However, some insurance companies will ask for a referral or a prescription from a family physician for the psychological services to be reimbursed.

Unfortunately, psychological services are not covered by OHIP. However, most psychological services can be reimbursed by your insurance provider or health care benefits plan.
